Happy Thanksgiving

Everyone I've talked to that knows we're from out-of-state has let us know we should feel lucky- there's usually snow on the ground or a raging storm during thanksgiving day. we have neither right now. i still don't understand why it's "lucky" to not have snow?

both Abbie and i have today off and it's been a fairly good day! for 1, it's my first paid holiday. (definitely hasn't happened in a long time) and 2, we'll be heading over to the Gavin's place for a little turkey, etc.... hopefully you are all well and that the holiday season (which surprisingly, i've been craving for a couple weeks) finds you well. there's goes the oven- got to go rescue the pumpkin pie!

good gravy,

LET IT SNOW!

It's that time of the year again- birthday central. Happy Birthday to all included (you know who you are)! Hopefully this season isn't overtaking your annual occasion! As I was shopping in the local grocery store today, I realized that I like putting together concoctions in my head of what would be a "good" recipe, but THANKFUL they never come into realization. Walking down the aisles, dodging the early morning bargain hunters, I found that if provoked, I could probably hold my own in a last-item-left tug of war...

The last few days (weeks, even) there have been forecasts of snow, snow showers, show flurries, etc, etc.... I've seen some white stuff, but only for an hour or two at a time. The next couple days they're calling for more and I'm growing skeptical of the forecasters in the area. If I don't wake up with snow on the ground soon, I'll have to start suing people! Well, maybe not that harsh, but I need it soon!

Today I face a daunting task of cooking turkey stuffing for 20, meatfilled and vegan styles for our weekly college group meeting. Should be fun. Definitely not what Joe and Rachel are undertaking....they're doing everything else! WHEW! I like cooking, but I don't know how I like cooking under pressure yet. You won't find me on Iron Chef any time soon, that's for sure.

I'm looking forward to winter activities- ice skating, skiing/boarding, snowball fights, whitewashes, but we need snow. I hope we get some soon. We haven't seen any new movies lately and I don't want to have to start!

That's all for now- I hope this finds you in good spirits for the upcoming joyous celebrations!

UGH! we're SO bad...but good all the same!

A few things have transpired since we last met, including:

transcontinental flights
marriage of good friends
church shopping
building anticipation of winter, with some early scares.

I flew back to WA for Paul and Kellie Faraca's (Robertson, for those not-in-the-know) wedding, leaving Abbie to fend for herself in Burlington. It was a good time for Abbie to get some overtime and fund my trip West. It was a joyous occasion, the wedding that is, and I spent the Thursday-Sunday traveling about 300 miles on I-5 for the events leading up to Saturday evening. Groomsmaning will never get old! I like it very much.

The flights to and fro were adventurous. For some reason I have this innate sense of the "last second" to check-in. A groggy Abbie and I arrived at the Burlington Airport with literally 2 minutes until check-in closed, and on my return flight from Seatac, the check-in agent had to call the baggage train back to pick up the "last bag to go on the plane" :) I'll just leave it at adventurous...

November 2nd was a day set aside for a new church starting downtown. It's called Burlington Vineyard and meets at an old firehall-turned-art gallery. The starter website can be found here.
The service's layout seems very similar to what we're trying to incorporate during our meetings on Monday nights, so it was what we were used to. We met some new people and are excited to see where this church leads us. They're only meeting once a month for now, until they get a foothold in Burlington, i suppose.

We've had quite the scares of winter wonder-landfall...some colder patches dipping into the 20s at night- and when the forecasted high is 35 for the day, a little enlightening. Co-workers here have commented on my "bundling up" almost every day, saying that it "isn't cold now, just wait for the 30 below"... they also DRIVE to work in their heated vehicles... i digress...

Lastly, please pray for the Flames- they've been waning lately, and we can't afford too many more losses without at least gaining some momentum first!

thanks for listening! this was supposed to be a bit longer, but i'll save it for later (filler material, if anything).
